Our brick-and-mortar store Underwater Explorers based on Portland, Dorset is open to visitors Friday through Mondays including bank holidays. Although the store front is closed to visits Tuesday through Thursdays, our online store is staffed 7 days a week.

Why Portland?

We’re located on the Isle of Portland (in Dorset) because Portland has been one of the most popular scuba diving locations in the United Kingdom even before we set up operations here back in the year 2000.

On one side, we’re minutes away from the sheltered waters of Portland Marina and Harbour, while on the other, it’s just a brief walk to reach our famous scuba diving destination Chesil Cove and start of the 16-mile-long Chesil Beach.  

Portland’s location makes it ideal for scuba diving, freediving, snorkelling and other surface water sports activities.

Alongside dive clubs, many instructors and dive schools travel here to train and offer scuba diving certification ranging from open water diver to mixed-gas tech diving or rebreather diving levels.

Whether you’re doing a boat dive from Portland Marina or Castletown or a shore dive at Chesil Cove, Portland is well known for offering many possibilities: Reef diving to wreck diving and night diving, underwater photography or underwater videography. Evoking the distinctive design of Scubapro’s classic G250 second stage, the Scubapro S-Tek Expedition Reel with 100m line is rugged throughout with ergonomic features that make it easier to let line out and retrieve it without snags.

The S-Tek Reel is rugged throughout, featuring a marine-grade anodised aluminium frame, durable injection-moulded fibreglass reinforced Nylon drum, and stainless steel axle and screws. The anti-snag stainless steel lock-down screw is located at the opposite end of the handle from the line exit; this makes for better ergonomics while reducing the risk of line snags. A handy line capacity gauge lets you know how much line has played out, and an ergonomic anti-snag winder makes line retrieval easy.

  • Durable construction includes a marine-grade anodised aluminium frame, injection-moulded fibreglass reinforced nylon drum, stainless steel axle, and screws.
  • Anti-snag stainless steel lock-down screw located at the opposite end of the handle from the line exit improves ergonomics while reducing the risk of line snags.
  • Anti-release eyelet for the bolt snap ensures security.
  • Ergonomic anti-snag winder allows for problem-free line retrieval.
  • Integrated stealth line cleat and removable Torben-Loc line anchor provide two options for securing the line end to avoid losing it through the line guide exit.
  • Includes 100m of line capacity gauge and stainless steel bolt snap.
