1.5L Drysuit Inflation Cylinder in brushed aluminium, otherwise referred to as an Argon cylinder, is popularly used with air as an alternative drysuit inflation method.

It's an ideal size for CCR divers, covering longer decompression and multiple dives, compared to the smaller 6cf Aluminium Suit Inflation Cylinder or the 1L Steel Suit Inflation Cylinder.

It can optionally be used for Argon fills to add warmth to colder, longer duration dives.

1.5L Drysuit Inflation Cylinder specifications

  • BtS M25 valve
  • Cylinder make: Luxfer
  • Working pressure: 200bar
  • Weight (empty): 2.05-2.08kg
  • Buoyancy (empty): +0.31kg
  • Cylinder dimensions: height 32cm - diameter 13cm

Recommended practice for suit inflation cylinder

  • Never allow the suit inflation cylinder to fully empty underwater
  • Storing cylinders with at least 2 bar of pressure in them
  • Keeping/transporting any empty cylinder with the valve closed
  • Drying and capping valves when the regulator is not attached
  • Periodic check against moisture/water buildup in the cylinder

Do suit inflation cylinders need testing?

Cylinders that may, during normal use, lose all gas pressure above ambient when underwater, such as side-mount, bail-out, marker buoy, buoyancy compensator, and suit inflation cylinders are at a greater risk of water ingress and internal corrosion when empty.

If freshwater is present in a cylinder, this can mean the loss of more than 2mm of the thickness of the cylinder wall within 6 months. This is increased to more than 5mm in salt water. (Diving cylinder walls are generally between 2 and 5mm thick).

While testing of the diving cylinder remains at 2.5 years for an internal visual and 5 years for a full hydrostatic test in the UK, a more frequent visual inspection by a certified test centre for suit inflation cylinders is recommended.

Deliveries outside the UK

Due to aviation regulations, the cylinder and valve will be shipped disassembled. It will be the customer’s responsibility to have the cylinder and valve re-assembled
