Innovations in design mean that the Apeks MTX-R Regulator Set perform in almost freezing water at a depth of over 60 metres, something that very few other regulators on the consumer market can boast. The MTX-R is not just an extremely reliable regulator but also very easy to service “ in the field”.
The military has been using Apeks regulators for over 20 years and now Apeks have put that military expertise into a brand new military specification regulator, exclusively for the consumer market.
The “M” in MTX stands for Military and the “R” for recreational version and the new MTX-R is based on the MTX, a regulator that was developed in accordance with the United States Navy Experimental Dive Unit extreme cold water test.
Apeks MTX-R Regulator Set includes
- Apeks MTX-R First Stage
- Apeks MTX-R Second Stage
- Apeks Flexi Regulator Hose
- MTX-R Messanger Bag
Over-balanced First Stage
The cold water rated Apeks MTX-RC first stage features a unique over-balanced diaphragm design – as the diver descends, the overbalancing feature allows the medium pressure gas in the hose to increase at a faster rate than ambient. This results in superior performance at depth.
Over-moulded innovative endcap and environmental diaphragm, a forged 1st stage body offers maximum thermal performance.
The Apeks MTX-RC has forged rotating turret with medium pressure ports in a parallel direction for improved hose orientation. Angled HP ports for optimal hose routing and fitting of transmitters.
- Suitable for cold water use (below 10°C / 50°F)
- The 5th 3/8” UNF medium pressure port includes a protective bumper when not in use.
- Forged first stage body with heat exchanging ribs for maximum thermal performance.
- Ribbed diaphragm clamp for improved heat exchange in cold water conditions.
- Nitrox/Oxygen compatible – Up to 40% O2 outside the EU (European Union)
MTX-R Second Stage
The Apeks MTX-R Second Stage Regulator performs in almost freezing water, something that few other consumer market regulators can boast.
The reversible (right and left hand) Apeks MTX-R Second Stage has a redesigned and enlarged, patented, heat exchanger which surrounds the valve mechanism, dissipating the cold caused by gas expansion.
Metal has also been incorporated into the front cover. Large protective elastometer bumpers on the sides and top protect the 2nd stage, which comes with a comfobite mouthpiece.
In addition to its extreme cold water ability, the Apeks MTX-R Second Stage Regulator is rugged, strong and designed to withstand the knocks and bumps that come with life on an expedition.
- Simple to use second stage with no dive adjustment controls and a reduced chance of free flow.
- Reversible (left or right hand)
- Patented heat exchanger surrounds the valve mechanism, dissipating the cold caused by gas expansion while drawing in the warmth of the ambient water.
- Comes with comfort-bite mouthpiece
