The Apeks MTX-R Regulator 3 Set is based on the MTX, a regulator that was developed in accordance with the United States Navy Experimental Dive Unit extreme cold water test.
Innovations in design mean that the MTX-R regulator performs in almost freezing water, something that very few other regulators on the consumer market can boast.
The military has been using Apeks regulators for over 20 years, and now Apeks have put that military expertise into a brand new military specification regulator, exclusively for the consumer market.
The “M” in MTX stands for Military and the “R” for recreational version and the new MTX-R is based on the MTX, a regulator that was developed in accordance with the United States Navy Experimental Dive Unit extreme cold water test. Innovations in design mean that the MTX-R regulator performs in almost freezing water at a depth of over 60 metres, something that very few other regulators on the consumer market can boast.
Tested for octopus use to 60m in cold water, this regulator set from Apeks is truly unique.

Metal has also been incorporated into the front cover. Large protective elastomer bumpers on the sides and top protect the 2nd stage, which comes with a c comfobite mouthpiece. In addition to its extreme cold water ability, the regulator is rugged, strong and designed to withstand the knocks and bumps that come with life on an expedition.

- Reversible (left or right hand)
- Patented heat exchanger surrounds the valve mechanism, dissipating the cold caused by gas expansion while drawing in the warmth of the ambient water.

MTX-R First Stage
Leading features of the first stage include a world-first over-moulded first-stage end cap to the sealed (environmental) diaphragm helping prevent ice buildup that could cause first-stage free flow in extreme circumstances.
The forged first-stage body gives a maximum thermal performance, while a ribbed diaphragm clamp on the first stage further ensures improved heat exchange in cold water conditions.
