Military Heritage
The military has used Apeks regulators for over 20 years. Apeks has used this expertise in a new military specification regulator. This regulator is exclusively for the consumer market. The “M” in MTX stands for Military. The “R” stands for the recreational version.
The MTX-R is based on the MTX. This regulator was developed per the US Navy's cold water test. Innovations mean the MTX-R performs in almost freezing water.
MTX-R First Stage
The cold water-rated MTX-R First Stage features a unique over-balanced diaphragm. As the diver descends, this feature increases medium-pressure gas. This increase, furthermore, is faster than ambient pressure. Consequently, this results in superior performance at depth.
Moreover, the over-moulded endcap and environmental diaphragm safeguard the forged first-stage body. Additionally, this body provides maximum thermal performance. Likewise, the forged rotating turret features medium-pressure ports oriented in a parallel direction, thereby improving hose alignment. Finally, the angled high-pressure ports optimise hose routing and significantly allow an optional transmitter fitting to monitor gas pressure.
- Suitable for cold water use (below 10°C / 50°F)
- The 5th 3/8” UNF medium-pressure port has a protective bumper.
- The forged first-stage body has heat-exchanging ribs.
- The ribbed diaphragm clamp improves heat exchange.
- It is Nitrox/Oxygen compatible – Up to 40% O2 outside the EU.
Second Stage
The Apeks MTX-R Second Stage performs in almost freezing water. Few other regulators, indeed, can boast this. Furthermore, the reversible second stage has a redesigned heat exchanger. This patented exchanger, specifically, surrounds the valve mechanism. Consequently, it dissipates the cold caused by gas expansion.
Furthermore, metal is integrated into the front cover. In addition, large protective elastomer bumpers safeguard the second stage. Finally, it is equipped with a Comfo-Bite mouthpiece. Consequently, this second stage is robust and durable, specifically designed for expedition use.
- Simple to use with no dive adjustment controls.
- Reduced chance of free flow.
- Reversible (left or right hand).
- Patented heat exchanger dissipates cold.
- Comfort-bite mouthpiece included.
