We’re located on the Isle of Portland (in Dorset) because Portland has been one of the most popular scuba diving locations in the United Kingdom even before we set up operations here back in the year 2000.

On one side, we’re minutes away from the sheltered waters of Portland Marina and Harbour, while on the other, it’s just a brief walk to reach our famous scuba diving destination Chesil Cove and start of the 16-mile-long Chesil Beach.  

Portland’s location makes it ideal for scuba diving, freediving, snorkelling and other surface water sports activities.

The Dive Rite Stainless Steel XT Backplate is laser cut from 10 gauge low carbon, rust-resistant 316L stainless steel. The unique shape contours the diver’s back while generously rounded corners prevent the plate from digging in or damaging drysuits.

Dive Rite XT Backplate plates are individually finished by hand, guaranteeing no rough or sharp edges that could potentially damage harness webbing. They are then electropolished to a mirror finish and laser engraved to ensure they look as good as they perform.

Dive Rite Stainless Steel XT Backplate design

The XT backplate is set up with 27.9cm on-centre mounting holes to accommodate standard twinset bolt kits, including two hole positions for the upper bolt providing user adjustability of tank height.

Two sets of 2" slots along the centre channel allow divers to weave cam straps onto the backplate for single-tank diving without needing a single-tank adapter.

Two pairs of holes on side tabs are positioned for use with bungees to sidemount stage bottles.

A series of additional holes along the outer edges of the backplate provides different options for mounting lights, pony and suit inflation bottles, lift bags, and other accessories.

5cm wide harness webbing slots are used throughout to accommodate a harness, and 5cm and 2.5cm slots at the bottom centre of the plate allow for any crotch strap up to 5cm in width to be used.
